CAPRICORNO, 22 Dicembre – 19 Gennaio 2021 by Maria Cristina Vimercati

Dovrete cominciare a correre.

The Smile, designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, is a mixed-use residential development introducing affordable housing units alongside market rate rentals, set within the vibrant Harlem streetscape. “The façade of The Smile drapes gently between the building’s two neighbors and leans inward to allow sunlight and air to reach the street, thus fulfilling the century old set-back requirements in a new way. Like a good neighbor, it fits into the existing neighborhood, feeding from the community’s energy to add new sparks to the community of East Harlem.” Bjarke Ingels, Founder and Creative Director, BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group

Olson Kundig Architects principal Alan Maskin has renovated and extended a beach cabin from 1938 in Washington State, turning it into his wood-lined retreat. Agate Pass Cabin overlooks the Agate Passage, a tidal waterway on the Olympic Peninsula. Maskin added a first-floor extension and proper foundations to the old cabin. https://olsonkundig.com/

A view shows the living room of Syrian businessman Sameer Ghadban residence which was once the home of a famous 19th-century Algerian who resisted the French in his homeland and sought exile in Syria, in the old part of Syria's capital Damascus on November 10, 2020. The old city of the Syrian capital is famed for its elegant century-old houses, usually two storeys built around a leafy rectangular courtyard with a carved stone fountain at its centre. While the capital has been largely spared the violence of Syria's almost ten-year war, several of these traditional homes have been abandoned by their owners or damaged in the conflict

The Copenhagen Admiral Hotel is a historic 18th Century warehouse that has been carefully restored and today sets the stage for modern hotel comfort and Danish quality. The four-star hotel is located in Copenhagen city center and none of its 366 rooms are alike, each with a unique ambience. One thing that is consistent across the rooms is the use of Stellar Works products including the Lunar high back & lounge chairs

Resident was proud to supply furniture and lighting into the recently completed The Hotel Britomart, designed by long-standing Resident designers, Cheshire Architects. As New Zealand's first 5 Green Star hotel, The Hotel Britomart's 99 rooms and common areas are sustainable from the ground up. Recycled textile slippers, locally made vases and lamps, organic cotton sheets and a sustainable seafood restaurant at the entrance pay homage to this

Nature reigns in the restored Chateau de Vigne, a high-end boutique hotel deeply rooted the Belgian Ardennes. But not in a way you might expect. Belgian design studio WeWantMore brought the ancient estate’s wilful surroundings inside in a poetic, yet novel way. Yes, the materials, marbles, lighting and colours are Ardennes inspired, but witty taxidermy art pieces and a stream of seasonal textures as part of an evolutive branding add a sense of humour and wonder to the guest experience

Photographer and animator Phyllis Ma’s work is centered around what she calls “special nothings:” ordinary objects that, in the right context, can appear “magical, surreal, or even uncanny.” Recently, Ma — who was born in China and immigrated to Brooklyn when she was eight — turned her lens on the mushroom kingdom
