This Innovative Cooling Installation Fights Soaring Temperatures in New Delhi

This installation is a bespoke attempt to simplify and reinterpret the concept of air-conditioning, understanding that standardized solutions may not be universally applicable given the constraints of cost and surrounding environment. Using computational technologies, the team at Ant Studio has reinterpreted traditional evaporative cooling techniques to build a prototype of cylindrical clay cones, each with a custom design and size. 'As an architect, I wanted to find a solution that is ecological and artistic, and at the same time evolves traditional craft methods,' said Monish Siripurapu, founder of Ant Studio. ph S. Anirudh

Bisate Lodge by Architects Nicholas Plewman Architects, Location Rwanda, Virunga National Park

RwandaText description provided by the architects. Inspired by the rolling hills of Rwanda and the thatched design of the King’s Palace at Nyanza, Bisate sits woven between the lush growths adjacent to Volcanoes National Park. Bisate reflects the innate organic culture of Rwanda and reflects sophisticated spaces around every turn. Craftily designed the spherical rooms and public areas add bespoke and sustainable solutions to the intricate and difficult surroundings. The design is a celebration of modern luxury and a unique culture which has stood the test of time, becoming a platform from which the guest experience departs. ph Crookes and Jackson

El Rey Court's Pueblo Revival exterior – the classic architectural style of the American Southwest – boasts flat roofs, rounded corners, and whitewashed adobe walls. Eight mid-century American motels reborn as boutique accommodation. The Carrolls maintained the exteriors and revamped the interiors with a delicate appropriation of Americana flair and Santa Fe folklore. Details draw on a number of creatives, most notably painter for Georgia O'Keefe and architect Alexander Girard, who used to live in the New Mexico town

In the Kai La Caleta restaurant in Tenerife, designed by Nayra Iglesias of In Out Studio, a couple of different room dividers create separation within the restaurant. The first room divider designs are made from blue painted metal with circular cut-outs. The curved ends create a softer appearance, while the horizontal lines allow light to travel through them. The second room divider style have been named ‘jewel screens’, as they are designed to highlight the colorful glass inlays in diamond and circle shapes. ph Silvia Gil Roldán

estate a milano
